The Hack: Your About Box

Since replacing pictures is so easy, let's try replacing the world you see when you select "About This Computer" the Apple menu from the Finder.

1. Make a copy of the Finder and then open it with Resorcerer. From the list of types, choose PICT and scroll down the image list to image 4000. This is the About Box Image that you see.

2. Open the resource with the Open button and paste your image on top of it.

3. Save your changes. Drag your original Finder file out of the System Folder, rename the "Finder copy" to "Finder" (it should still be in the System Folder), and restart your machine.

Now when you select "About This Computer" you will see the custom picture you pasted in, instead of that blank original!
